Emily has been a member of the TWFK team since October 2010 and is likely one of the first faces you’ll see, as she’s our resident evaluation expert. Although first visits often include some form of assessment, Emily’s gentle, supportive, and play-based nature make even the most mundane standardized tests seem fun.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and a Master of Occupational Therapy from Temple University, Emily dove right into the world of pediatrics; she explored various settings including pediatric acute care, pediatric long-term care, and school settings, before establishing herself in the private clinical setting. When it comes to modalities and treatment approaches, Emily’s skill set is always expanding.
She currently holds certifications in the DIR model, Interactive Metronome, Svetlana Masgutova’s Neuro-Sensory-Motor and Reflex Integration, and John Barnes’ Myofascial Release. Emily incorporates these treatment modalities into her sessions daily.
Emily is passionate about sensory integration, particularly sound-based intervention. Her ultimate reward is getting to the root cause of a concern so she can best support clients and families. Hearing success stories from families is one of her greatest joys.
When Emily has time to herself (a rare occurrence with three little ones of her own at home!) she loves all things food: cooking, trying new restaurants, reading recipes, and of course eating.
